PETALING JAYA: The MCA unity plan to bring the party back on track is workable though it may not be the perfect way.
Former party secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Ting Chew Peh said the plan, if implemented properly, would put the party in good stead when it comes to serving the people and winning back their confidence.
As such, he urged party members and leaders at all levels to give the plan a chance and make it work.
“It is a good start,” he said.
“Give the party leaders a bit of time to put things in order,” Dr Ting said when asked to comment on the announcement by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and his suspended deputy Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek last Thursday that they had decided to put aside personal differences and work together.
The duo had not been on good terms since they were elected to their respective positions last October.
Dr Ting said the MCA leaders needed the support and cooperation of all levels in the party to implement the plan.
He said those who criticised the plan and questioned how the plan came about should be viewed with caution.
“By singing a different tune, are they saying they are the most qualified to lead the party?” he asked.
