JUST before Ramadan, Marché, an eatery well-known for its fresh concept dining in The Curve, Petaling Jaya, was closed for two weeks to carry out renovation work.
When re-opened, the restaurant sported a more refreshing interior, with interesting dining sections to enhance any diner’s experience.
The newly-renovated Marché, which can seat close to 400 diners at a time, has a unique fairy-tale pine hut typically found in the Swiss mountains.
Diners can choose their favourite seating sections, too, as there’s the Swiss Auberge, Boulevard 1 and 2, Locanda, Poterie, Medi Garden, Brasserie and Log Cabin.
Adding up to the mood are interesting pieces of Swiss ceramics of all shapes and sizes, lined up against the shelves. Crests of a myriad of colours hang from the ceiling, giving the place a slight European medieaval feel, too.
Marché’ assistant manager (operations) Mohd Faisal Abd Kadir said with improved sceneries on the walls, new lighting and more windows, the new Marche was looking great and was ready to welcome more customers.
He added that the new concept was launched in conjunction with the restaurant’s successful fifth anniversary in Malaysia.
“To celebrate, we bring our original Swiss heritage to Malaysia, offering diners a true-to-life Swiss dining experience. There’s nothing like dining in a pine-wooded hut while biting into crisp salads, tasty rösti and drinking freshly-pressed juices,” he said.
Having said that, one of my all-time favourite indulgences at Marché is its juices. Juices that you get here are money’s worth.
For an instance, a large Carrot - Apple juice is blended with three green apples and two whole carrots, and no water added.
If you think the juice is too sweet, you’re probably just enjoying the natural sweetness of the fruits, with no added sugar.
The fresh orange juice is juiced from six whole oranges, while the Dragon Fruit juice is a mix of half a fruit with two big slices of honey-dew melon.
If you want it cold, you can add ice shaves into your drink, without actually adding ice cubes that can dilute the juice when you reach for it by the end of your meal.
Now the outlet also has a new range of refreshing homemade Lemonade mix drinks such as the Strawberry Lemonade, Passion Fruit Lemonade and Calamansi Lemonade.
Also a new addition to the outlet is its Fritto counter. It offers deep-fried calamari, prawns and vegetables, featuring Marche’s very own unique batter recipe.
Mohd Faisal added the outlet took pride in their home-made sauces as a way to give its best to the customers.
“We make our own Brown and Mushroom sauces. We also make the various dippings ourselves. Mayonnaise, Tar Tar and Thai Chilli Sauce are some of it. This is to ensure that our offering is fresh,” he said.
The idyllic Swiss restaurant is set in a marketplace atmosphere, where diners get to “shop” using a stamp card for their choice of food at the various counters.
Apart from the juice counter, there is a drink area, starters, pasta corner and desserts. There is also a healthy selection of meat and fish main courses to choose from.
Diners can also apply for the Marché TM Card which includes benefits such as free daily Swiss Premium Movenpick Coffee, complimentary RM10 for first-time purchase of RM60, and 10% additional value for every subsequent top up (of minimum RM50 per transaction), reduced price on selected items monthly, free gift redemption on your birthday and many more specials.
