Time to get rid of those scars

MANY women think scar is difficult to treat, so they have no choice but to hide it with thick make-up or just live with it even though they are bothered emotionally.

However, scar treatment products have emerged in the market and one of the latest is Hiruscar skin care gel.

Launched this month, it is a scar gel formulated by a team of Swiss dermatologists from Medinova, a company established in 1945 in Zurich, to help reduce visibility of scars.

Hiruscar was first launched in Thailand in 2006, followed by Hong Kong in 2007 and now brought into Malaysia.

DKSH Malaysia is the company distributing the product, which was unveiled to the media recently at its premises in Petaling Jaya.

Medinova senior brand manager Poraweeya highlighted that the product’s non-greasy texture, fast absorption and pleasant smell of aloe vera and Vitamin E made it the ideal scar product for use on the face and body.

“Having a scar on the face makes people feel self-conscious and less confident, especially for women. But if you take care of your scars today, you do not have to consistently worry about concealing that scar on your face anymore,” she said.

“What makes it even better is that Hiruscar is absorbed quickly into the skin, allowing you to put on your make-up almost immediately after applying it,” she added.

The product had a unique 2-in-1 Revolutionised Recovery System, which combined both active and natural ingredients to help make scars lighter, smoother and less visible within weeks.

Hiruscar’s active ingredients include Mucopolysaccharide Polysulphate (MPS) and Allium Cepa, which help smoothen and improve the appearance of both new and existing scars.

Natural ingredients such as aloe vera, Vitamin E & Vitamin B3 help lighten the colour of the scars, resulting in a more natural looking shade.

Poraweeya added that the gel would work gently and effectively on most scars, including those caused by acne, surgery or minor cut, but reminded users the gel should only be applied after the wound is fully closed.

In conjunction with the launch, participants were given a free makeover and had their portrait photos taken.

Hiruscar Gel comes in two sizes and is priced at RM17.80 for 5gm and RM54.80 for 20gm.

The product is now available in Watson’s, Caring and all leading independent pharmacies nationwide.
