KUALA LUMPUR: MCA central delegates packed the party headquarters in Jalan Ampang here for a pre-EGM dinner made rousing by constant shouts of “1 MCA, 1 Team”.

Delegates also took the opportunity to take photos with leaders present.

The dinner kicked off yesterday with short speeches by party secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng and followed by president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

Then, the leaders went around to greet the delegates. Among them were vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Wanita chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, treasurer-general Tan Sri Tee Hock Seng.

The hand-shaking and photo opportunities were sprinkled with shouts of “1 MCA, 1 Team” in both English and Mandarin – echoing the launch of the report on the party performance for the past one year by Ong on Thursday.

Ong, in his speech, welcomed the delegates “home,” and urged them to have a good meal as “it is always better to have dinner at home than in hotels.”

Wong, in his welcoming speech, said the party EGM preparation work was conducted with transparency in order to prevent disputes from any camp.

“I hope the EGM will go on smoothly. I believe none of the party member wants to see any untoward incident occur.

“As long as we hold close to the principle of unity and cooperation and the love towards the party, the EGM will definitely go on smoothly,” he said.
