DESPITE having been in the hairstyling business for 30 years, A Cut Above co-founder and senior creative director Winnie Loo proved that she was not ready to take a break with the opening of yet another outlet recently.

“Most companies are experiencing an economic slowdown and my friends asked me why I was still expanding my business.

Largest outlet: The newly renovated salon spans over 465 sq m of space and has 52 styling chairs.

“I told them that Bangsar created an opportunity for us to continue to have the vision to be big, and hence we have brought this beautiful salon here to be a part of where the action is,” Loo said at the opening of the newly renovated A Cut Above salon in Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Loo added that with the launch, they hoped to provide the community with a place where they could get their hairdo and make-up done, massages, manicure and pedicure, and also be able to socialise, as it was like a one-stop beauty centre.

The RM2mil flagship store, which spans over 465 sq m (5,000 sq ft) of space, is the largest outlet for the brand and offers the ultimate pampering for customers.

Those seeking a quieter moment during treatment could use one of the four private rooms available.

Each is installed with a flat LCD TV screen on which customers have the option to view Astro programmes as well as a selection of movies.

The salon also offers a wide selection of international hair products for customers.

At the launch, singer Syafinaz Selamat and violinist Dennis Lau performed an opening number before models took the floor, parading different hair designs from the 80s “big hair” days to the creative use of wigs and fake lashes.
