KUALA LUMPUR: A series of books on presidential addresses of past Umno presidents, from when the party was set up in 1946 to 2009, serves as a reference to party members and Malaysians to better understand the country’s development process.
Titled “Amanat Presiden Umno 1946-2009”, the collection compiles the speeches during the party’s annual general assemblies, from Datuk Onn Jaafar (1946-1951), followed by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj (1951-1971), Tun Abdul Razak Hussein (1970-1976), Tun Hussein Onn (1976-1981), Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (1981-2003) to Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (2003-2009).
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin launched the collection yesterday, which comes in a set of six volumes.
For reference: Muhyiddin showing the series of books containing speeches from past Umno leaders at the launch in Kuala Lumpur. They are published by Berita Publishing in collaboration with Institute of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Thought, Universiti Utara Malaysia and Perdana Leadership Foundation.
Muhyiddin said the books would not only be useful for Umno members but could also serve as a reference to the younger generation.
The series is sold at RM200 a set.
