MCA central committee to discuss results

What say you on the issue below?

KUALA LUMPUR: The outcome of the MCA extraordinary general meeting will be brought before the party’s presidential council and central committee meetings, party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said.

“We respect the decision made by the delegates collectively. It is only fair we bring it up for discussion at the central committee meeting as well as the presidential council meeting,” he said at a press conference after the EGM results were announced.

“We acknowledge the outcome and at the same time, the party will function as before. We will cross the bridge when we come to it,” he said.

When a reporter asked him whether he would resign, he declined to give an answer and merely said: “You just follow what I just said.”

When asked further whether he was shocked with the result he said: “You can see that from last night — or even the day before — until now, I am still what I am. Did you see any expression of shock?”

He said that from Day One, the leadership was determined to resolve the party crisis by having the EGM and the leadership would abide by the decision of the delegates.

When asked if the outcome had brought the crisis closer to a resolution, Ong said “I do not think it is fair, at this juncture, for anyone to prejudge.”

He thanked all the delegates and those who had helped to conduct the EGM smoothly.

Present at the press conference were vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and Wanita chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.
