MORE than 10,000 people showed up at the Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) Hari Raya open house held for the first time at the Shah Alam Stadium.
“This is the first time that we are hosting the event at the stadium. We thought not many people would turn up. But I guess people like it here.
“Due to the good turnout we are planning to hold future Hari Raya open houses here,” said MBSA public relations officer Shahrin Ahmad.
He said even though the event was scheduled to start at 3pm, people were already queuing up at the entrance of the stadium before 2pm.
Compared with the previous years, the event this year saw all the departments in the city council taking part.
“Each department put up a food stall and their own staff prepared the food and manned the stalls.
“It was a chance for the public to know the officers at the relevant departments.
“It also brought the public closer to MBSA staff,” he said.
Guests were welcomed by the mayor Mazalan Md Noor, councillors, heads of departments and MBSA employees.
Among those who attended the open house were state executive councillors, state assemblymen, Selangor state senior officers and local community leaders.
During the event, guests were also entertained by MBSA inhouse artistes.
Mazalan also presented duit raya to 200 children from single-parent families and orphans in the city.
