EXPECT an Oktoberfest with a local twist at Karl’s Beisl at SohoKLthis weekend.
Organised by the European restaurant specialising in German and Austrian cuisines, the two-day event will be held from 2pm to midnight, providing a combination of German cuisines, beer and great music.
While promising the true ambience of the famous one at Munich, Germany, with long tables, benches and the 1-pint beers, non-alcoholic beverages and satay will be available, too.
A variety of music, from rock, blues, jazz, retro to pop, can be expected from 18 local bands, such as Fats and Vernons, Nite Birds, Monotones, SWV, 3 and Corner Stone.
Food stations will be set up from 4pm onwards, serving mouth-watering cuisines including Styrian Smoked Lard on Rye Bread, Roast Pork Belly, Smoked Pork Loin and Roast Pork Knuckle.
“We have our own smokehouse and we make our own sausages, hence all items on the menu are made by us,” Karl’s Beisl owner and operator Karl Rathswohl said.
To wash down the delicacies, there will be bucket promotions for Lowenbrau (the official Oktoberfest beer), Warsteiner, Franziskaner, Hefe Weissbier and Carlsberg.
All drinks and food is available from RM10 nett onwards - imported beers from RM20 onwards - via cash coupons on sale at Karl’s Beisl.
To add on to the merriment, contests like beer-drinking, sausage- eating and arm-wrestling await participants.
Part of proceeds of the event will be channelled to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of University Malaya Medical Centre.
