KUALA LUMPUR: The law firm engaged to act for Manohara Odelia Pinot and her mother in a RM105mil defamation suit filed by the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra, has withdrawn as their solicitors on record.

High Court senior assistant registrar Shazali Hidayat Shariff allowed for the withdrawal of Messrs Fakrul Hisham Abdullah and Associates in his chambers following an application by lawyer Noor Hisham Abdullah yesterday.

The prince’s lawyer, Mohd Haaziq Pillay, said he had no objections to the withdrawal.

“The law firm served their papers for the withdrawal application to both defendants on Sept 20 and Oct 5 by courier and registered posts at their three addresses in Jakarta,” he told reporters later.

Mohd Haaziq said the parties were also ordered to ensure they filed and served the relevant documents for the case before the Oct 29 mention date.

He said Manohara and Daisy Fajarina’s new solicitors would have 14 days to file a memorandum of appearance from their date of appointment.

He added that if they did not, he would not hesitate to apply for a judgment-in-default for Tengku Muhammad Fakhry.

On Aug 28, Fakrul Rizal Abdul Manaf had entered a memorandum of appearance at the High Court civil registry for his firm to be the solicitor on record for the mother and daughter.
