KUALA LUMPUR: MCA leaders should put aside their differences and place the interest of the party first to achieve its unity plan, said vice-president Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha.
Kong said the MCA should not be embroiled in disputes but work towards the success of the plan.
“MCA has to move on. The plan is a good way to move forward,” he said.
“We do not have much time.
“We need to bring back the confidence of the rakyat, serve the Chinese community and prepare for the next general election,” Kong said in a telephone interview yesterday.
He also urged the mass media to play a more cohesive role instead of a divisive one.
“A lot of people in the media will not be happy with me when I say so,” he said.
Asked about the possibility of Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek getting back his post as deputy president, Kong said unless the Registrar of Societies had decided otherwise, there will only be one deputy president.
Asked whether deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai was behind the so called “third force”, Kong said he had no comment.
