KOTA KINABALU: A gambling habit turned out to be a painful experience for two men who broke their arms and legs after jumping out from a first floor apartment in their bid to flee a police raid.
The two were among five men who jumped out from the apartment that was used as an illegal gambling den when police swooped on the premises late Friday. All five were arrested along with 27 others in the apartment. The two injured men were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth hospital here for treatment.
Sabah police anti-vice unit chief Deputy Supt Rohaizat Abdul Ani said police raided the apartment at Luyang near here after monitoring the premises for more than a week.
He said following the raid, police seized RM73,500 in betting money.
DSP Rohaizat said police believed the apartment had been used as a gambling den for about a month before police got wind of the activities there and raided it.
