FOR 28-year-old Rifarina Ahmad Karib, riding a big bike is the way to get around town. The staff nurse from HUKM travels to work on it clad in her white uniform. She even rides back to her hometown in Ipoh on her Naza GTR 150x.
“I like the adrenaline rush I get from riding the bike,” she said at the Naza Talyya Hotels Charity Bike Ride take-off at Menara Kuala Lumpur recently.
However, owning and riding a big bike had only been a recent interest as she bought her mean machine just last year.
Rifarina had been admiring the bike for some time but was not aware that Naza sold it.
“When I found out that it was available in Naza, I decided to get one,” she said.
Being a female on a bike, Rifarina sure attracted a lot of attention.
“I guess not many women are into bikes. And motorcycles are usually associated with men and it can be quite dangerous. But I do take the safety precautions,” she said.
Single mother Sharifah Zubaidah Said Omar, 33, was also part of the charity drive.
Sharifah, who is from Rawang, travelled to work daily on her Naza GTR 150x and also used it to send and pick up her two children from school.
“My kids, of course think it’s cool,” she said.
The charity bike ride was organised by Naza Talyya Hotels with Naza Bikes and several other local biker clubs.
The three-day excursion, which ended on Sept 27, involved 60 bikers, who rode from Kuala Lumpur to Penang. It was held to raise funds for the poor.
Also present at the event were Naza Hotel food and beverage group director Nur Nadia SM Nasimuddin and Naza Talyya Hotels marketing and branding head Johari Mohd Yusof.
