KUALA LUMPUR: Be second to none, the Prime Minister has told Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (Unitar), whose board of trustees are seeking to revamp the university to meet the nation’s current needs and create a niche for itself.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he hoped that in redeveloping Unitar, the management would do everything possible to achieve the highest standard of quality.
The role of Unitar must be seen in the context of meeting the needs of the country, particularly entrepreneurship and technopreneurship, added Najib, who is also chairman of the board.
Unitar must also continue to search for the best partners for collaboration, Najib said during the launch of the Razak campus at Unitar here yesterday.
Among those present were several ministers, deputy ministers and representatives from embassies.
He said Babson College (in Massachusetts, USA) was found to be the best in entrepreneurship and Unitar had selected it as a partner in education.
The management has also chosen the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, which is the top school, based on the U.S. News and World Report 2009, he said.
Najib said the board had also decided that Unitar should be a boutique university, that is, it would focus on producing a small number of students of high quality.
Yesterday, Unitar also witnessed the setting up of the Bank Rakyat School of Entrepreneurship and the Razak School of Government, he said.
