VIPs attend Deepavali open house

MALACCA: Malacca Governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob was one of the many VIP guests who visited MIC leaders here during the Deepavali celebrations.

Mohd Khalil dropped by MIC vice-president Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam’s open house on Deepavali night at his home in Ujong Pasir and spent more than an hour chatting with guests.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, State MIC chief Datuk R. Perumal and State MIC advisor Datuk R. Raghavan were also there.

Earlier in the day, Mohd Khalil visited Perumal who held his open house at his home in Kampung Baru Selandar, Alor Gajah.

Various Indian cultural performances have been lined up for the week-long Deepavali festivities here at Padang Nyiru next to Malacca’s Little India.
