SHAH ALAM: Selangor police dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug trade when they seized about RM730,000 worth of drugs and detained six men - including three foreigners - in a series of arrests this month.
The first arrest was on Oct 2, when police intercepted three Iranian nationals who arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Air-port (KLIA) from Dubai around 3.30pm, said state deputy Narco-tics chief Supt Abd Razak Md Zin.
“We found that they were smuggling 262 capsules of syabu worth around RM500,000 hidden in their stomachs,” he said in a press conference at Selangor police headquarters yesterday.
Supt Abd Razak added that the men, aged between 22 to 31, allegedly linked with an international drug syndicate, were in remand until Oct 14 for further investigations.
Supt Abd Razak said that police had another breakthrough in an unrelated drug bust when they apprehended three individuals believed to be drug dealers outside Sungai Buloh Hospital around 6pm on Oct 5.
The three men, aged between 32 to 52, were found in possession of two plastic bags containing almost a kilogramme of syabu worth about RM230,000.
“We also seized two cars, including a Mercedes Benz and three cellular phones,” said Supt Abd Razak.
