MAKKAL Osai reported that former MIC deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam has urged the board members of the party’s education arm Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED) to call for an emergency meeting to review its accounts.
He also demanded a clarification from party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu over his claim that MIED was a separate entity from MIC.
Subramaniam said the president had maintained his silence on the matter while his former vice-president Tan Sri K. S. Nijhar was carrying out “damage control”.
He said the onus was still on Samy Vellu to clarify whether MIED and Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology belonged to MIC.
Subramaniam added that the meeting should be opened to the media to ensure transparency and accountability was observed as the organisation operated on public and government funds.
