Sikh family calls cowshed home

What say you on the issue below?

AN impoverished Sikh family has been living in a cowshed with four cows in the Prai Industrial area for the last 10 years.

Jusvinder Kaur, 41, her older brother Surjinder Singh, 51, and their mother, Balwant Kaur, 82, have been relying on RM300 in welfare aid and assistance from neighbours and friends.

A big portion of the money is spent on medication for a chronic muscle ailment Jusvinder suffers from and a liver problem that has been affecting Surjinder, Makkal Osai said.

Jusvinder told reporters that they had to move out of their house after they could not pay the rent.

The family had to sell the cows they owned to cover their living expenses.

Malaysia Hindu Sangam Seberang Jaya branch chairman M. Muniandy, who visited the family, said his association, the welfare authorities and the Jalan Makloom Sai Baba Centre in Penang would provide the family with aid soon.
