PETALING JAYA: All brokerage fees generated from CIMB Group’s Indonesian trade will be donated to the CIMB-The Star Padang Relief Fund in conjunction with the bank’s “Padang Day” tomorrow.
The group, in a statement yesterday, said the move was to further intensify fund-raising efforts to aid the victims of the earthquake in Padang, Indonesia on Sept 30.
“The devastation is heartbreaking and at CIMB, we want to do our bit. Therefore, we urge investors and traders to come to us especially on Padang Day,” said CIMB-GK Securities chief executive officer Carol Fong.
“Padang Day” is part of CIMB Group’s larger regional fund-raising efforts to help the earthquake victims. The monies raised will go towards providing emergency relief as well as towards the reconstruction of the city.
As of Sunday, CIMB Group had collected over RM2.8mil. Those interested in donating can contribute via online banking and cheque or cash distributions.
