Rumah Caring looks for a place of its own

What say you on the issue below?

AFTER years of renting properties in Kajang, Persatuan Rumah Caring for the elderly, single mothers, orphans and the disabled, is ready for a place of its own.

A committee formed for the mission aims to raise RM100,000 through a special event called the 1122 Caring Carnival 2009 on Nov 22.

Presently, the association is renting a double-storey house in Taman Muhibbah and space is scarce at times. Care-givers at the home also tend to those afflicted with Down Syndrome.

The committee’s financial chairman and Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang, Selangor, coordinator Wendy Yap said it would take the combined effort of many to attain the target.

“With the sum raised through the sale of food, beverages, products and services, we hope to invest in a larger property and expand our services for the unfortunate,” she said.

Metro Point, a leisure and entertainment complex, is the venue sponsor for the carnival scheduled to be held from 10am to 5pm.

More than 100 stalls selling a wide range of interesting items will be put up along the Metro Walk section outside the complex. Tickets for the carnival are currently on sale at RM10 a booklet.

Metro Point marketing manager Winnie Sam said a host of entertainment acts have been lined up and the participants were scheduled to perform at the concourse area of the mall.

“Gymnasts and dancers from Wendy Dance Studio in Kajang are slotted to perform,” she said.

The co-sponsor for the carnival is the Taman Midah Lutheran Church and its representative Yong Hooi Lean was also present at the press conference.
