GEORGE TOWN: A PKR division leader has lodged a police report against Batu Uban assemblyman S. Raveentharan for alleging that he was the one who sent out SMSes claiming that Raveentharan had sodomised his ex-wife.

R. Karrnan, who is Bukit Gelugor PKR division deputy chief II, said he was perplexed as to why he was named in a police report lodged by Raveentharan, who is the division’s chief, over the incident.

“I am not aware about the SMSes. I met Raveentharan last year and I do not know about his past and personal matters.

“I would file a legal suit against him and two of his personal assistants once police have completed their investigation,” he told a press conference at a restaurant in Sungai Dua.

Karrnan, who was Raveentharan’s former personal assistant, claimed that his name was reported in several Chinese newspapers as the person responsible for sending out the SMSes.

He also claimed that he and another division leader, Roslan Ramansah, were also named in two other police reports as the persons who removed banners put up by Raveentharan’s assistants in the constituency.

Karrnan also claimed that Raveentharan’s allegations against him were planned in the run-up to the division’s election scheduled for the next few months.

“The division’s election is just round the corner. I believe this is one of his tactics to bring us down,” he claimed.

When contacted, Raveentharan, who is in Kuala Lumpur attending a meeting, refused to comment.
