PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said investigations into MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat were ongoing but have not denied reports that so far their efforts have drawn a blank.
Its deputy chief commissioner Datuk Abu Kassim Mohamed said: “I cannot confirm or deny the report so as not to jeopardise investigations.”
He was speaking to editors from several Chinese news dailies during a media briefing at his office here.
The Star and Nanyang Siang Pau had reported that MACC had not found any evidence that Ong had received RM10mil from Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for party activities.
The report, quoting sources, said that investigations by the MACC had so far drawn a blank and nothing had been uncovered to back Tiong’s allegations. It said that MACC officers, besides questioning those allegedly involved, also checked their bank accounts.
Tiong’s two private jets worth millions have been frozen by the police, in addition to a plot of land and a car.
Ong has vehemently denied the allegation and has since filed a RM500mil suit against Tiong for unfounded and defamatory remarks following the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) disclosure. The High Court has set Nov 4 to hear the suit.
Tiong is also being investigated by the police and the commission for fraud, including overcharging and unsubstantiated claims in the construction of the controversial RM4.6bil PKFZ project.
