PUTRAJAYA: Students with signs of influenza-like illness (ILI) must be isolated to prevent infecting other students taking the Penilaian Menengah Rendah examination, the Health Ministry said.
Health authorities have asked invigilators overseeing the examination to keep a lookout for students showing signs of ILI.
“As long as they have the ILI symptoms, those unwell can easily spread the flu or cold to the healthy ones,” said the ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican.
Dr Ismail said Malaysia had also not recorded any deaths from Influenza A (H1N1) for the past 20 days - with the number of fatalities remaining at 77.
There are 731 patients currently hospitalised for ILI, of whom only 40 were confirmed to have contracted A (H1N1), with seven being observed in the intensive care unit.
Dr Ismail reiterated the importance of people in the high risk group avoiding crowded places and distancing themselves from those with ILI symptoms.
