Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong

KUALA LUMPUR - At December 13, Sultan Muhammad V sworn as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV and at age 47 he is the youngest among the sultans of the Malay Rulers at the moment.

In performing his duties he will be assisted by his deputy Muizzuddin Sultan Nazrin Shah, aged 60 years.

Although they from different generations, each known for its own leadership charisma than his commitment both to the people.

"Sultan Muhammad V closely with people and likes to mingle with ordinary people. He also always go to the mosque, there was a time he was leading prayers. The question of religion is very close in his heart. This makes him close to the people at the grassroots level, "said Chandra.

In an oppressed society with issues such as the rising cost of living, Chandra said discharge hardships of the people who see themselves lord can be delivered through advice to the executive branch of state government.

HIGHER EDUCATION

Sultan Muhammad V and Sultan Nazrin get higher education at the University of Oxford.

College graduation at St. Cross and the Centre for Islamic Studies in Oxford, Sultan Muhammad V continued his studies at Deutsche Stiflung Entwicking, Berlin and subsequently in the European Business School in London.

Raja Nazrin also after graduating with a Bachelor (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford before continuing his studies at Harvard University.

There, he was awarded a master's degree in public administration and then proceed to a doctorate degree (PhD) in Political Economy and Government.

He also received honorary degrees were conferred as Honorary Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford on Oct 2013.

CRITERIA FOR LEADERS

For Prof Madya Dr Shamrahayu Abdul Aziz, the intellectual capabilities of both the sultan was an advantage for him both to refine the current issues affecting the country.

"In the current situation today, the head of state does require basic higher education to make a wise decision," said Principal Fellow Research Centre Syariah, Law and Politics Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) it.

According to him, the whole basic education can also help Sultan Muhammad V's experience as a government is new compared to the monarch of the other states.

Even so, he has experience as Tengku Mahkota Kelantan and as a Regent who is also the foundation for him to govern the state.

It is well known Sultan Muhammad V was proclaimed as the Sultan of Kelantan in 2010. A year before that, he was appointed as Regent.

Earlier than that, he was appointed as the heir is entitled to the title of Crown Prince in March 1979 and was crowned in October 1985.

Since 2011 he assumes the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong to-14 to be elected as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to-15.
