IPOH: A new spelling for Bagan Datoh in Perak 'Bagan Datuk' will begin to be used during the official proclamation of the new district by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah on 9 January.

State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan said he decided at the conference of the State Executive Council on 22 November.

"Consequently, government departments and agencies will have to adopt the new spelling in their management," he said on Thursday.

According to Abdul Puhat, historic declaration that will be made at the Sekolah Menengah Sains near Bagan Datoh with the expected attendance of about 15,000 people in the district.

Bagan Datoh officially gazetted as a regional administrative 12th in Perak through a government gazette on 15 June.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Malaysia Aidilfitri Open House here in July 2016 announced Bagan Datoh upgraded to full districts, the result of a mutual agreement between the state and the federal government.
