JOHOR BARU: A Singaporean businessman is living in fear after he was trailed and pelted with stones on his way back to his apartment after a business meeting.
A group of thugs then vandalised his car with a fire extinguisher during the 11.30pm incident in Tampoi.
Kok Kok Choon, 51, who has an electronics business said he was trailed by a man on a motorcycle who threw stones at his vehicle while driving back home from Bukit Indah.
“I was worried for my life and drove quickly to my apartment in Tampoi,” he said, adding that the guards at the apartment block stopped the man from entering while he quickly parked his car and rushed into his apartment unit.
Kok said within a few minutes a group of thugs had gathered at his apartment entrance. They went to level three where Kok’s car was parked and broke the car windows and vandalised the vehicle using a fire extinguisher.
“However by the time they left, a police car had come to the scene,” he said, adding he later lodged a police report at 11am the next day.
Kok added that initially he gave the wrong motorcycle number plate and then lodged another report a few hours later with the right number plate.
“I was shocked to find that none of the thugs were caught when the police arrived at my apartment and the police were also unable to track down the number plate I provided,” he said.
Kok was puzzled as to why the thugs vandalised his vehicle causing RM8,000 in damages.
Asked about whether he had been robbed before, Kok added that he was burgled about 10 years ago when living in Tebrau causing him to return to Singapore.
“I just decided to return this year and now this happens to me,” he said, appealing to the police to nab those responsible.
He sought the assistance of Pusat Aduan Rakyat Pasir Gudang supervisor Syed Othman Syed Abdullah to help to liaise with the police to find about the outcome of the investigations.
