SCORES of folding bicycle lovers turned up at the Tern Tea Party held recently in Bandar Botanic, Klang.

The event also served as the official launch of Tern Bicycle’s range of 2012 folding bikes in Malaysia.

K2 Asia Sdn Bhd marketing manager Chanson Lau said cycling enthusiasts here were among the first in the South-east Asian region to experience the new Tern bikes.

Bike talk: Folding bike fans sharing a light moment.

“We brought in 15 models to showcase to our customers and this covers basic, mid-range and high-end bikes with wheel sizes including 20”, 24” and 26”.

“In addition, we are also holding a preview for the 2011 Eurobike award-winning bicycle, the Tern Eclipse S11i,” Lau said.

Guests at the party were given Tern souvenirs and sales were brisk.

D.C. Ong, a folding bike fan from Petaling Jaya, said he was impressed with the Tern bikes on display.

“I am looking for a single-speed folding bike, which is the trend among urban dwellers these days, and I found at least two models here.”

Another bike fan Mohd Zakri Baharuddin, who brought his family to the event, said he was shopping for a folding bike for his eight-year-old son Khidir.

“My boy did very well in his final-term exams and as a reward, I am getting him a bicycle. The Tern bike was his preferred choice,” he said.

Following the launch, Tern bicycles are now available through Rodalink bicycle stores in the Klang Valley and Malacca.
