Shop owners are annoyed by constant barks from a locked shoplot

What say you on the issue below?

HEARING blood-curdling barks from a locked up shoplot is enough to scare the living daylights out of anyone but such incessant barking has turned into annoyance for shop owners along Jalan Panglima.

Behind the dark locked interiors of Lot 39 in the old section of Ipoh town, sources of the barks were hardly seen by shop owners and it remained a mystery.

B. Surin, who works at an electrical shop opposite, suspects the dogs were being cooped up for breeding activities.

The barking, he said, was intolerably noisy.

Where are the dogs?: The building (in beige) which reared many cannines at Jalan Panglima.

“Sometimes, from all the barking I hear, I feel the dogs are suffering presumably from malnutrition and not being allowed to leave the premise at all,” said Surin, 31.

A business owner from nearby, who declined to be named, said the dogs barked the loudest at about 2pm each day.

“The dogs are disrupting the peace of everyone who are working here and I find it difficult to concentrate on my work,” he complained.

A legal clerk at a law firm next door said dog ticks had crept into the back of their office.

“As if that is not enough, the awful stench of their faeces and barking are becoming too overwhelming to endure,” she said.

Pointing out that this has been going on for over a year now, the clerk claimed that Ipoh City Council officers had inspected the place earlier on when shop owners complained.

“They came a few times but until now, no action has been taken,” she added.

Datuk Bandar Datuk Roshidi Hashim said it was the first time he was hearing about the matter.

“I will send my officers to conduct a thorough investigation.

“We will take necessary action after getting to the bottom of this,” he said.
