First cineplex opens in Shah Alam

THE first cineplex in Shah Alam was opened at the new Space U8 mall in Bukit Jelutong yesterday, making it a dream come true for residents in the area.

Space U8 chief exective officer Raja Ahmad Nizam Raja Razali admitted that the mall had achieved a major breakthrough by obtaining the approval for the MBO cineplex in the city.

“We are proud to be the first to bring cinemas to the city. MBO’s involvement has further boosted the image of the mall which was built using an eco-friendly concept,’’ Raja Ahmad Nizam said.

MBO chief operating officr Ikmal Nizam Ariffin said the cineplex had seven halls with a total of 1,400 seats.

Ikmal said the cineplex was equipped with a digital projection system that allowed 3D movies to be screened.

He said the patrons were also assured of an excellent sound system supported by the Dolby Digital Surround Ex-system.

Those residing and working in Bukit Jelutong, Taman TTDI Jaya, Subang and Subang Jaya need not go far now to watch a movie now.

Mainstay Group of Companies chairman Raja Mohd Azmi Raja Razali said the mall also housed a family karaoke and a 24-lane bowling alley.

He said the mall was expected to cater to the needs of the public, including expatriates, who worked in the area.

“We have the largest indoor courtyard measuring 80,000sq ft which will become the venue for all types of events.

“This is going to be a happening place with various types of commercial and social activities,’’ he said during the soft opening of the mall.

Raja Azmi said besides the cineplex, Fresh2U Supermarket, a food court, had also been opened while other retail outlets would start business soon.

He said there were about 250 outlets, including an IT centre and several food outlets.
