RESIDENTS living in Glenmarie Court at Glenmarie, Shah Alam are against the proposed alignment of the Kelana Jaya LRT line extension that will encroach into the gated area of the exclusive neighbourhood.
Glenmarie Court Homeowners Association (GCHA) president David Ting said the residents were “not against the LRT extension but wants the Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad to shift the proposed alignment that runs parallel with Jalan Eksekutif U1/6 by an extra 30m away from the neighbourhood boundary.”
“Based on the current plans, the LRT line extension that runs on the median of Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang will cross over and encroach into the gated area and will take up part of 0.4ha of private land and pillars will be erected to facilitate the line.
“Next to it is a bungalow,” he said.
Ting urged the firm in-charge of the project to reconsider the current alignment where the closest point was 40m to the houses along Jalan Eksekutif U1/6 (parallel to the old Subang airport road) and this was why they wanted the line to be shifted by another 30m.
“We have written to the company and to the various authorities but until now there is no favourable reply. We hope our elected representative Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad can help negotiate and resolve the matter,” he added.
“We hope the firm will accept our appeals to move the LRT line,” said Ting.
Nik Nazmi, who met the residents at his office to discuss the matter, later visited the site to get a first-hand understanding of the matter.
“I will write to the companies and authorities involved to find out further on the line extension,” he said.
