Trio net big wins at home decoration fair

IT WAS a happy case of lightning striking twice for Khairul Bariah Bibon, 38, when she won a home appliance package and RM10,000 cash for participating in a contest organised by Homedec 2011.

The home decoration exhibition, which concluded in late October in Kuala Lumpur, also took place earlier this year in the states of Penang, Johor and Sabah.

Two other lucky women also emerged as big winners, one carting home a voucher for home appliances worth RM30,000 and the other, the same amount in cash.

For Khairul Bariah, the cash prize and home appliance package is timely as her family is in the process of moving to their new house in Setiawangsa.

The mother of five said the double win was quite unexpected.

“I am ecstatic right now, and this will go a long way in furnishing our new house,” said Khairul Bariah.

Cheng Swee Li, 38, was similarly overjoyed when she was awarded a grand prize voucher worth RM30,000 for Teka Kuchentechnik products.

Cheng, who works as a manager for a private company, said the appliances purchased with the prize voucher could take care of her kitchen alone.

For Maria Wong Poh Yeen, 40, winning the RM30,000 cash prize would help to finance her home renovations, while purchasing some soft furnishing at the same time.

“I’m very happy, and also very grateful, because of my house renovations right now, and it’s really a very timely win.

“The money will help in renovating the house and redecorating afterwards,” said Wong.
