Staff members rehabilitate mangrove in Sepang

What say you on the issue below?

RAIN, mud, dirt — and more dirt! What better way to spend an otherwise lovely Saturday morning. It was all worth it for 40 employees from Mitsui OSK Lines (M) Sdn Bhd who recently engaged in their maiden CSR project in rehabilitating the mangroves at Sungai Sepang Kecil. Even the regional director from Singapore, Sundeep Sibal, could not resist showing up for the event despite his hectic schedule.

Being in a business where oceans and Mother Nature play an integral part in its operations, Mitsui OSK Lines champions the cause of protecting biodiversity and preserving nature.

Greening the earth: Mitsui OSK Lines (M) Sdn Bhd employees planting the mangrove saplings at Sungai Sepang Kecil.

It is also the company’s hope to learn and to continuously play an active role in mangrove conservation. This project was a collaborative effort with the Malaysian Nature Society.

All staff members were educated on the importance of mangrove in our ecosystem. More importantly, it drove home a clear message that everyone can make a difference — no matter how insignificant it may appear.

Judging from the success of this outing, country director Justin Chuo has pledged to double the company’s efforts next year to rehabilitate 200 mangrove saplings.

The company were also grateful to the all girls’ team at the Malaysian Nature Society, Sepang for their assistance in making the event a success.
