RM100 is great help for needy students

What say you on the issue below?

STUDENTS of SMJK Pei Yuan in Kampar and their guardians were a happy lot when they received the RM100 in school assistance promised to them by the Government.

Form Four student Cheah Wing Lam, 16, said she would use the money to buy herself new school uniforms for the next school year.

“I’m not sure what I’ll do with the rest of the money though,” she said gleefully after receiving the RM100 from Kampar MP Datuk Lee Chee Leong.

Pajan Singh, 72, who accompanied his 17-year-old grandson Ashvinder Singh, said he was glad the Government had made good on its promise to give out money to students.

“The RM100 will be of great help to students from the lower income group,” Pajan said.

The school’s principal, Tan Lek Soon said a total of RM114,700 was distributed to its students.

In Tapah, SJK (C) Chenderiang and SK Batu 14 pupils received the RM100 school assistance from Chenderiang assemblyman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

Dr Mah, who is also state executive councillor, said the Government was concerned about the welfare of students and had made the right move in implementing the initiative.
