MALACCA: Bayview Hotel of Malacca managed to raise about RM9,000 to be handed over to Malacca Cancer Society (MCS) as part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility.
The cheque was presented to MCS president A.C. Vohrah by Bayview Hotels general manager Tan Hui Teng during a brief ceremony held recently.
The hotel, through its month-long fund raising drive managed to accumulate RM3,955.50 and the remaining cash of RM5,000 was personally donated by Tan.
The fund of about RM9,000 used by MCS to organise activities and projects in disseminating comprehensive information about breast cancer and early detection.
Bayview Hotel on its part participated in the fund raising campaign by organising various activities including sourcing donation through the sales of pink ribbons, where donors will had the chance of pinning-up the ribbons on a display board in the hotel lobby.
Tan when met at the cheque presentation ceremony said the hotel also organised a Pink Luncheon that attracted some 200 patrons.
“We believe that the breast cancer awareness campaign was an excellent platform to raise consciousness on efforts of MCS.
“The campaign is also seen as a step to remind women on the importance of carrying-out self examinations to detect any sign of breast cancer,” Tan said, adding that cancer specialist Dr Chong Kwang Jeat presented a about the disease during the luncheon.
