THE Bangsar Baru Residents’ Association (BBRA) celebrated its 37th anniversary recently in high spirits at the Royal Selangor Club in Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

Some 260 people attended the event, where they chilled out over a nice dinner, lucky draw, music and entertainment.

Also attending the event were Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, his wife Datin Nafesah Raja Nong Chik and Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid.

Well connected: Raja Nong Chik (third from left), Nafesah (fourth from left) speaking to some residents at the event.

During his speech, Raja Nong Chik said he was surprised to see such an overwhelming response from the residents attending the function.

He added that BBRA has managed to set a benchmark for others in terms of relationship and working together with other agencies.

“We are aware of residents’ needs in making their neighbourhood a livable place. The Government is committed to making the city livable as well as a high-income place for the country.

“At present, any new development is required to communicate with residents via the three stages of communication strategy. It has just been enforced but eventually it will be seen around Kuala Lumpur.

“It is important for the relevant stakeholders to work together in order to have a sustainable, cleaner and safer neighbourhood,” he said.
