A TOTAL of 623 new students made a pledge of adherence to the rules and regulations of PTPL College for the duration of their study there.

The oath-taking ceremony, in conjunction with the Orientation Week 2011/2012 academic session, was held at the Management and Science Univer sity’s (MSU) Performing Arts Theatre recently. This was the first time PTPL College held a students’ pledge ceremony in its collegiate institution in MSU.

Irham Hafidz Ali, a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management student, led the others in the oath-taking ceremony. The students pledged to uphold the hopes and expectations of their parents, families and the nation in striving towards excellence throughout their study at PTPL.

The pledge was made before Professor Datuk Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the president of MSU and PTPL Group of Colleges. Also present were PTPL Shah Alam principal Miskiah Tijan, and senior officials and lecturers from MSU and PTPL.

Earlier in his speech, Shukri said the event was significant for new students because it officially recognised them as students of PTPL. He added that the event would become part and parcel of PTPL tradition, and also become part of the learning experience that every student needed to undergo.

Shukri reminded the students that the two important elements to succeed in life was to be disciplined and ready to change their attitude.

He said it was not hard to succeed at PTPL. All that is needed for a student is to have faith in his or her capability.

He reminded students to fully utilise the opportunities provided at PTPL and equip themselves with various soft skills in the context of fostering a culture of excellence, competence and ethics. After the ceremony, the students were taken on a tour around the campus.

The students had been undergoing an orientation week, conducted by the Student Development Unit. They were urged to attend all the activities organised to nurture the values propagated by PTPL and enable them to adapt to the learning environment.
