WHEN people meet to compare notes about their hometowns, the conversation almost always end up with a comparison of mouth-watering delicacies in the towns.
Somehow, good food seems to be the main yardstick to determine if a place is worth visiting or if it warrants a revisit.
The Star New Media, takes these conversations seriously and has decided to document a new video series called “It’s Really All About Food.”
All ears: The Young News Network team listening intently as they learn more about the pomelo fruit. It will focus on new aspects of favourite food haunts across the country.
It will follow members of the Young News Network to explore the nooks and corners of towns and cities for that yummy snack, a scrumptious homecooked meal, the out of the norm preparation of noodles, the mind blowing curry and many others that await recommendation.
The first in this series took Angelreena Lim, Alicia Mun and Joel Lim to Ipoh where they made sure they did not eat kway teow or drink white coffee. They went on a day trip to sink their teeth into piping hot egg tarts and feasted on more than 30 types of yong tau foo.
Good combination: A glass of cold Kopi O with creme caramel. The youngsters, who left at 6am on their jaunt up north, met up with people who go to market every morning to have their favourite Chee Cheong Fun, chat with their friends and sometimes bring along produce from their backyard to sell there.
