SHAH ALAM: The Coroner’s Court met Tuesday to continue the inquest into the death of Teoh Beng Hock but adjourned proceedings to Oct 1 for a number of reasons.

The investigating officer had met with an accident recently and is on sick leave till Sept 30.

Gobind Singh Deo, who is holding a watching brief for Teoh's family, also said that Teoh's family and friends had been asked to present themselves at the Selayang Hospital to be interviewed by a forensic psychiatrist.

He said he wanted a list of the questions that would be asked to ensure that they were relevant to the matter.

On July 15, Teoh, 30, the political secretary of state executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, was taken in for questioning by the MACC as a witness in its investigation into the alleged abuse of constituency funds by certain elected representatives in the state.

Teoh’s body was found the next day on the fifth floor of the Plaza Masalam building the next day. The MACC has its office on the 14th floor of the building.

The Cabinet agreed to the inquest into the death after a public outcry

Datuk Abdul Razak Musa, who holds a watching brief for the MACC had sought a stay on the inquest pending an appeal to expunge the testimony of a witness, T. Sivanesan, who alleged torture by the MACC.

However, the Court of Appeal on Monday ordered the inquest to proceed Tuesday without the witness.

The Coroner is Azmil Mustapha Abas. Tan Hock Chuan is the lawyer appointed by the Government to assist the Coroner while Malik Imtiaz is holding a watching brief for the Selangor state government.

Gobind Singh Deo is holding a watching brief for Teoh’s family.
