Student nearly raped on the way home

IPOH: An Upper Six student, working part-time at a supermarket, was bashed up and nearly raped while taking a short-cut home from work.

The attack left Wong Mei Peng, 19, with a broken jaw, swollen eyes and mouth, bruises all over her body and without her front teeth.

Her father Wong Kok San said the incident, which took place at about 11pm on Sunday, left her in a state of shock and he was worried that she may not be able to sit for the STPM.

“She was only supposed to work for three days and this happened on her last day of work,” said Wong, a construction worker.

Wong said Mei Peng was riding her motorcycle through Kampung Bengkali to get to their home in Simpang, about 1km away.

“She told me that her attacker chased her from behind on another motorcycle.

“She tried to get away but he caught up and kicked her off her bike,” he said.

The attacker beat her up, searched through her belongings and tried to undress her.

“He dragged her to the side of the road and hid her motorcycle in some bushes.

“He left when another motorcyclist passed by but came back. My daughter screamed and ran to a nearby house when he came back.”

The owner of the house heard Mei Peng’s screams and came to her aid.

Wong said he sent her to the Taiping Hospital where she is warded. Wong lodged a police report yesterday morning.
