IF YOU are shopping at the Mid Valley Megamall and the running around tires you out, head to the San Francisco Steakhouse to partake in its buka puasa buffet spread.
Sous Chef Juwahir Mustafa, 27, and his team are prepared to wow the buka puasa crowd this holy month with over 100 dishes a day.
With 12 years of experience under his belt, the young chef prepares a different Ramadan menu every day.
Juicy meat: Juwahir carving the whole lamb. “We have two special dishes for Tuesday which is the Talapia Tiga Rasa and the Ayam Kurma Ubi Kentang,” said Juwahir.
The Talapia Tiga Rasa is a special recipe created by Juwahir and his team and has three different flavours namely spicy, sweet and sour.
The Ayam Kurma Ubi Kentang is a typical Johor dish which is light despite the coconut milk used and goes well with the Herbs Oil rice.
The Herbs Oil rice tastes a little like briyani rice but is not too overwhelming or rich. It is well balanced and has a good proportion of spices adding flavour to the dish.
“Besides these two dishes, for the first time in five years we are serving Roasted Whole Lamb,” he added.
No need to shy away: The Ayam Kurma Ubi Kentang is a typical Johor dish. It is light although coconut milk is used. The whole lamb is marinated overnight in rosemary herbs, chopped garlic and olive oil and served with mint sauce and brown sauce.
In previous years, the restaurant served lamb leg or other lamb dishes.
There are also the traditional must-haves like lemang, beef rendang, satay with peanut sauce and ketupat.
For Japanese food lovers, there is a live station where chefs make fresh california handrolls and makimono.
Each day, a new noodle dish is introduced. Among the noodles available are mee rebus, curry noodles, prawn noodles, assam laksa, laksa johor and nyonya laksa.
Besides these the soup station also serves local and international soups. Their signature mushroom soup is made from fresh mushrooms and one can taste the richness of the soup.
The salad bar is stocked with tuna salad, kiwi and shrimp cocktail, wardolf salad, baby octopus, kerabu udang, kerabu ikan and kerabu mango.
As for desserts, there are an assortment of cakes, fruits, jelly, ice kacang and other delicacies to chose from.
“We also have the sweet buburs lined up, like the pengat pisang, bubur cha cha, bubur barli and bubur pulut hitam,” added Juwahir Mustafa.
The Ramadan buffet is priced RM58++ per adult and RM29++ per child below the age of 12 and is available at both MidValley and KLCC.
