Get smart the healthy way

What say you on the issue below?

THOUSANDS of children, mothers, fathers, grandparents and mothers-to-be took part in a fun and exciting camp over the Merdeka holidays.

Parents and children were engaged in fun yet interactive activities which helped stimulate the child’s power to learn. It was called the “Enfa A+ Smart Camp” organised by Mead Johnson Nutrition (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd at Sunway Pyramid.

The families went on a quest to become an Enfa A+ Kid called the Smart Quest. MJN believes that a child’s quest for a bright future begins with the parents. The first step is supporting brain development by learning how to get adequate amounts of DHA through proper nutrition, followed by strengthening body resistance and finally stimulating abilities and skills through interactive modules.

“The camp consists of five important sections. They are Smart Nutrition, Smart Language, Smart Music, Smart Play and Smart Parenting.

“The interactive games and activities are catered for the needs of children of different ages,” said Marketing & Singapore Business Unit director of Mead Johnson Nutrition Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei Hui Lai Har.

For parents and children: The camp has interactive games and activities to enhance brain development in children.

At Smart Nutrition, parents and children will be first greeted with the DHA area.

The “Power Up with DHA” activity teaches children and also parents about the adequate intake levels of DHA for children at different ages.

Secondly, to strengthen your child’s body resistance, the Triple Protection Guard explains the importance of nutrients to keep your child healthy throughout his growing years.

Smart Language is about helping children develop their speaking ability, reading ability and intellectual level. At the Smart Language section, children will be greeted with the “Spell It BIG” activity, an interactive set-up of letters that can be used to spell various words.

Scientists and early childhood development experts say that music is an important tool to enhance imagination, learning ability and concentration. Parents and children visiting the Smart Music section can take part in “Beat It”, an activity that uses music to stimulate learning.

Play is also important for growing children because it helps develop communication skills, analytical thinking, mathematic skills and scientific skills. The activity at the Smart Play section called “Golf Around the World” is a mini-golf course which is designed with famous landmarks of the world such as KL Tower, Big Ben and the Pyramid. This activity is designed to help children develop these skills and increase their general knowledge while having fun.

The camp will also have a Smart Parenting section where parenting tips for mums-to-be will be provided. Here, parents-to-be can obtain tips like the right way to bathe their infant and information on the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

The camp will also be travelling to the North and South of Malaysia. Come visit the camp at Central Atrium, Ground Floor, Queensbay Mall, Penang from Sept 25-27 and at Centre Court, Ground Floor, Jusco Tebrau City, Johor from Oct 23-25.
