Football clinic for 17 boys

What say you on the issue below?

THE children of Rumah Aman had a great time recently when they took part in a football clinic conducted by former football champion and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) coach Mohd Khasim Kasi Abdullah.

In conjunction with its second donation of RM10,000 to Rumah Aman, the Truly Loving Company (TLC) hosted the football clinic for the home’s children.

Rumah Aman, an orphanage for boys in Shah Alam founded by Abdul Rehman Dakri and his wife Mehrunessa Dakri, seeks to provide the best environment for the boys by focusing on giving them a good education.

For the orphans and boys from poor families, the clinic could be the start of realising their dreams of becoming national football players.

Football time: Khasim demonstrating the finer points of the game during the football clinic.

Seventeen of the boys, aged 10 and 11, will get to experience the thrill of football and be coached during a series of sessions over six weeks.

The clinic will begin with ball control; the finer points on the rules and regulations of the game would be introduced over the next five sessions.

“We hope this will ignite the spark in them, and under Khasim’s able guidance, perhaps they will become Malaysian football champions one day,” said TLC founder and CEO Julia Chong.

She pointed out that the TLC logo had a star perched above the house image, which symbolised the act of providing hope and helping the less fortunate to reach for the stars in their own world.

“Given the right potential and opportunities, anyone can excel in whatever they want to do and become a star,” Chong said.

“The RM10,000 donation is part of the TLC’s long-term mission and commitment in supporting its charity partners.

“We wanted to strengthen our relationship with Rumah Aman by introducing events that benefit the orphans directly.”

She added that this second donation to Rumah Aman would not have been possible without the support of loyal consumers who made the TLC brand of household and personal care products a part of their daily lives.

Abdul Rehman said: “The children are excited and eagerly looking forward to having a national football coach take them through the paces. In fact, this is the first time they are going through such training.”

He said aside from gaining knowledge on playing a proper game, the football clinic would teach them life values of teamwork and fair play.

Khasim is a former national and state player who played for Selangor in the Malaysia Cup alongside Mokhtar Dahari, Arumugam and Soh Chin Aun, and went to play in international tournaments.

He is also a qualified FAM and Asian Football Confederation coach, and is an active member of the Football Coaches Association of Malaysia.
