Five resolutions to be voted on separately

What say you on the issue below?

KUALA LUMPUR: Each of the five resolutions to be tabled at the Oct 10 MCA extraordinary general meeting (EGM) will be voted on individually.

Every central delegate will receive five papers, each outlining one resolution.

Central committee member Gan Peng Sieu said this was agreed upon by both factions – those of president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and sacked deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek – at a meeting on Monday.

Gan was one of the three representing Ong at the meeting with Dr Chua’s side to work out the EGM details.

The five resolutions to be tabled are to move a motion of no-confidence against Ong; to anull the decision to expel Dr Chua; to reinstate Dr Chua as MCA deputy president; to revoke any appointment made before the EGM; and that no disciplinary action to be taken against the requisitionists.

Gan reminded central delegates that if the first and second resolutions are passed, Dr Chua would become the president.

He said the resolutions proposed by Dr Chua’s faction had clearly shown the opposite camp had only one agenda – the toppling of Ong.

“Even if the first resolution is dropped, but if the majority is slim, it will still force Ong to resign as the members will have no confidence in his leadership,” Gan said, citing that this was his personal view.

Gan said that although Ong and his team realised the “hidden agenda” of Dr Chua’s faction, Gan said they had no choice but to agree to the resolutions.
