Toh stands fast by his Muslim friends

What say you on the issue below?

KUALA TERENGGANU: In a show of solidarity with his Muslim friends, Terengganu executive councillor Toh Chin Yaw has decided to fast during Ramadan.

Since Saturday, his routine has been to have breakfast early in the morning and fast until 7.15pm when he would join his Muslim friends for the breaking of fast.

“Another reason is to lose weight,” he said after handing over financial aid to mosque and surau officials from his Bandar constituency in Masjid Zainal Abidin, or known as Masjid Putih, here yesterday.

The aid, distributed to 25 representatives, would be used to organise religious events during Ramadan.

Toh said many of his Chinese and Indian friends were also joining their Muslim friends in fasting.

“Many non-Muslims also do the same in Terengganu.

“Furthermore, when we break fast together it is more meaningful,” said the state Industrial, Commerce and Environment Committee chairman.

On an unrelated matter, Toh said the state was expected to receive RM4bil in foreign investment to set up a steel manufacturing plant on a 400ha site in Telok Kalong, Kemaman.

He added that the state had also received enquiries from investors in China, Taiwan, Australia, Iran and Kuwait for high impact projects.
