PM: Tear down the walls

What say you on the issue below?

KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister has called on Malaysians to “repair the bridges and tear down the divisive walls” that exist among the races.

In his National Day message, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said opportunistic people had exploited the friction among the people to cause the bridges, which were painstakingly built by the nation’s founding fathers, to become shaky.

> MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said the country should move forward from having superficial inter-racial and religion interaction to having real unity and harmony among the people.

> MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said everyone should respect and honour freedom of religion.

> Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Malaysians should accept, respect and celebrate diversity, while consolidating unity and understanding,

> Upko president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok said he hopes the country will continue to come together as “we want to develop as a nation that discards racial baggage”.
