ALOR STAR: Ten MCA divisions in the state have called for a review of the party's presidential council's decision to sack its deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
The 10 divisions are Kuala Kedah, Pendang, Sik, Padang Terap, Baling, Sungai Petani, Jerai, Alor Star, Pokok Sena and Merbok. There are 15 MCA divisions in Kedah.
The spokesman for the group, Kuala Kedah division chief Ooi Eyan Hian said the decision endorsed by the council was unfair to Dr Chua.
"When the DVD issues surfaced last year, Dr Chua resigned from all his posts in the government and the party.
"However, during the party elections last year, Dr Chua won the deputy president's post.
"His victory was a sign that members were ready to forgive and forget and accept him (Dr Chua) as a leader.
"And now this happens," said Ooi.
The divisions called for the withdrawal of the decision to sack Dr Chua and that he should be re-appointed as the deputy president.
