SEREMBAN: A special assistant to Bukit Kepayang assemblyman Cha Kee Chin was nearly raped by two men who came to his service centre purportedly to lodge a complaint.

A police spokesman said the two men, aged between 30 and 35, walked up to the second floor service centre located along the busy Jalan Dato Bandar Tunggal near here and knocked on the locked glass door at around noon yesterday.

The spokesman said the 33-year-old woman had initially thought that the two were constituents who had come to see the assemblyman.

“However, the moment she opened the door, they threatened her with a knife and ordered her to hand over her belongings,” he said.

She handed over two brand new laptops worth RM5,000, two mobile phones worth RM1,500, a gold chain worth RM1,500 and RM2,000.

He said the two men then overpowered her and tried to rape her.

However, she managed to grab a penknife and stabbed one of them in the chest.

Angered by this, the two rained blows on her and left in a hurry, worried that people might have heard the commotion.

She then called Cha who immediately rushed to the office. Foren-sics policemen were also called in to lift fingerprints from the crime scene.

The woman was sent to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital where X-rays were taken to check if she had any fractures.

She was discharged later in the afternoon after being given outpatient treatment.

Cha, when met later, said the woman had been working for him since January last year.

Asked whether he had a CCTV installed at his office, Cha said he did not.

“We set up service centres to help the public but it is unfortunate that we get situations like these.”

Cha said the woman had exercised caution by locking the door but opened it as the men looked like they were there to lodge a complaint.

“I guess we just have to be extra careful next time.”
