Aziz to go on leave prior to retirement

He said Aziz, who had served the military for 40 years, would be taking his remaining leave of 61 days to attend the compulsory transition course before fully retiring on Jan 31, 2010.

Aziz, who was born on Aug 26, 1951 in Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan, joined the army on April 23, 1969.

He had written a book, The Marksman, on the army management philosophy towards excellence.

Azizan, born on Oct 25, 1952, is from Yan, Kedah, and had been the RMAF chief since Oct 30, 2006.

Earlier, 59 organisations, welfare bodies and companies, including Bakti (The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers), Petronas, Sapura Group and Affin Bank Berhad handed over their Raya contributions to the armed forces.

Ahmad Zahid said this year the armed forces received Raya contributions worth RM1.1 million.
