KUALA LUMPUR: Following a complaint by his ex-wife, a businessman was yesterday charged in the Sessions Court with cheating.
Foo Ho Cheng, 41, was charged with using a Maybank cheque amounting to RM36,000 with the knowledge that the signature on the cheque was false.
He allegedly committed the offence at the Maybank in Jalan Sungai Besi on March 12 four years ago. Foo, from Gasing Heights, pleaded not guilty.
The complaint was lodged by Chung Fui Chu on June 8, 2005.
Prosecuting officer Chief Inspector Muhammad Mohd Jais proposed RM30,000 bail in one surety.
Foo's counsel, Alan Chua, pleaded for a lower sum, saying his client had cooperated with the police in the investigations. Zainal fixed RM5,000 bail in one surety and ordered Foo to report to the Petaling Jaya police station once a month. He fixed Oct 16 for mention.
