THE Manbaul Uloom Madrasah in Mukim Batu, Kuala Lumpur held its first buka puasa at its newly constructed building recently.

Some 500 people gathered for the occasion where the madrasah personnel gave out zakat (tithe) contribution to the less fortunate as well duit raya for the children.

The madrasah, which was established some 30 years ago, used to be located on a smaller lot in Segambut and became the focal point for local Muslim community.

The new building was constructed to better serve the community and is equipped with facilities like hall, meeting room, Quran reading classes and parking bays.

Spanking new: The prayer hall at the new madrasah.

Manbaul Uloom Madrasah chairman Hikmat Ali Abdul Rahim hopes that the madrasah would continue to be a place for social activities and Islamic centre.

He said the construction of the new madrasah was completed in April.

“The madrasah was built at a cost of RM1.8mil, which we gathered through various corporate sponsors as well as via public contribution. As for the zakat, we are giving out RM18,000.

“We had a vetting process and the people receiving the zakat are from all over the place,” he said.

During the event, guests were entertained by nasyid group Brothers.
